DBT is an innovative treatment model for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and has grown rapidly throughout USA and furthermore across Europe. Its growing success is due to the effective treatment that is provided to client groups, whose emotional problems are particularly difficult to manage.
DBT is used to treat patients with a history of chronic suicidal behaviour and us a unique, team-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. It is aimed to treat clients whose behaviours can be problematic within a therapeutic relationship or an institutional setting. The aim is to make them feel a part of a team and have the ability to grow self-confidence and believe in themselves with other supporters around them.
DBT isn’t only used for suicidal behaviour, but can also be adapted in many ways for specialities such as Adolescents, Eating Disorders and Substance Misuse amongst others. Standard DBT consists of 4 components mainly, but can be adapted to suit the needs of the client in question. Individual Therapy takes place for approximately 60 minutes per week, which can be split between numerous sessions or the one. Group Educational Skills Training takes place each week for around two hours, followed by weekly Team Meetings for 90 minutes per week. Lastly, unscheduled telephone calls take place on an unknown basis, which can be of varied durations.
Marsha Linehan will be presenting two workshops in Paris, France on the 24th & 25th June 2015, followed by DBT Clinical Sessions Analysed on the 26th June. Dr. Linehan will be presenting a number of workshops which are structured to provide a three day event, filled with informative classes. These workshops are suitable for mental health professionals, as well as new and established DBT practitioners. The workshops aim to update and expand the knowledge of attendees with the very latest techniques, trends and developments.
Later this year, Marsha Linehan will also be providing similar workshops in the UK on 14th & 15th September 2015.
